Everyday, there is some or the other new lipstick launching in the market. Being a lipstick hoarder, I can’t resist but try as many as I can lay my hands on, if not all! So, the other day I tried Sugar Matte As Hell Lip Crayon Lipstick in the shade 04 Holly Golightly. Given the fact that it is a matte crayon lipstick, I was super excited to try it out. To know what I feel about it, just continue reading!

Shade: The shade is a pinkish to nude. It is an everyday wearable colour and will suit fair to medium skin tones.

Swatch: In the image below. On the left side, it is 3 to 4 swipes whereas on the other, it is a single swipe.

Packaging: I love the packaging of Sugar crayon lipstick. It comes in a prismatic box which is really quirky and fun. The box of the lipstick has the name and shade mentioned on it.

The casing of the lipstick is also really elegant. It is a matte-black casing with colour-coded end which shows the colour of the lipstick. The casing also mentions the name and shade on it.

Fragrance: The lipstick doesn’t have any fragrance as such but there is a slight chemical fragrance which doesn’t bother me that much and it disappears in seconds.

How To Use: Exfoliate your lips & apply the crayon lipstick just the way you would with any other lipstick. Blot & reapply!

Whenever I want a tint of colour, I dab this lip shade on my lips with my finger and it gives a really beautiful tint to my lips making them look healthy.

My Experience: I really love using this lipstick on a daily basis. I usually go for this lipstick when I want more of a natural look. Since my lip colour is on the pinkish side, this lipstick gives a very nice flush of colour to my lips.

This lipstick also comes with a sharpener! That is a bonus point and it also has a long cleaner stick attached on top of it for cleaning the sharpener. But I do feel that sharpening the lipstick leads to product wastage and it is a little inconvenient.

But most of the matte crayons come as a sharpening crayon rather than retractable sticks. Being a matte lipstick, it doesn’t dry out my lips much but still I make sure to apply a moisturising lip balm underneath it.

Staying Power: The staying power of Sugar lip crayon is around 4-5 hours which is really good as light colours tend to fade away quickly but this lasts a good time.

Finish: The finish of this lipstick is totally matte. I also love the fact that it doesn’t dry out my lips.

Transfer Proof: Though, it is matte but not transfer proof.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation of Sugar Matte As Hell Lip Crayon lipstick is medium. It is decently pigmented in one swipe and gives full coverage in two-three swipes. Pigmentation as such is not an issue with this lipstick. It builds up the colour quite nicely.

Texture: The texture of this lipstick is matte. It is not drying and glides easily on the lips.

Pros:

1. Not drying
2. Glides on easily
3. Easily available
4. Beautiful shades in this range
5. Beautiful matte finish
6. Free sharpener

Cons:

1. Lipstick is not retractable
2. Slightly pricey

Jhalli Diva Verdict: 3.8/5

Do I recommend?

Yes, I totally recommend this lipstick. The shade is really beautiful and the formulation is quite rich. The pigmentation is pretty decent and feels comfortable to wear.

Will I repurchase?

Yes, I would purchase this lipstick again but maybe in another shade as they have recently launched new shades which are really stunning as well.

Overall Summary: If you’re looking for a non-drying matte lipstick, then go for Sugar Matte As Hell Lip Crayon range. It is really amazing and has a great formulation and pigmentation. Though, it is priced a little high but you should definitely give it a try as it is worth the money!

  1. This is such a beautiful nude lipstick. And an affordable dupe to this is peachy little liars from the same brand SUGAR. These two are my favourite nudes till date.
