Maybelline Baby Lips Bright Out Loud Striking Orange Review & Swatches

(Last Updated On: July 4, 2017)

Maybelline’s Baby Lips lip balms are my all time babies. Since the time Maybelline launched them in India, I have been a loyal buyer of these lip moisturizers. Today I am reviewing the Maybelline Bright Out Loud Lip Balm in Striking Orange from the latest launch on Baby Lips. I have always liked the peppy shades from the original colored Baby Lips collection but they were pretty low on pigmentation.

This new range has made my wish come true because they are pretty intense on pigmentation and all the shades have some peppiness to them. There have been much small talk already so, here we go with the details on Bright Out Loud! in Striking Orange.

I have used their each and every range be it the basic tint-free range, lightly pigmented range, Electro Pop range or the heavily pigmented Spiced Up Range. I have lost count on how many Baby Lips I already have bought and used up to the base of the bullets.

Product Name: Maybelline Baby Lips Bright Out Loud Lip Balm in Striking Orange

Shelf life: 24 months from the date of manufacturing.

Availability: This lip balm is easily available both online and offline. You will get them at 10-15% off on stores all the time. This product sells up to 25% discount on online offers. Isn’t it fab?

Packaging & Appearance: This new Baby Lips balm comes in a bullet form just like any other Baby Lips but it is more stylish and less chubby. The sleek click-shut balm stick has a colour coded body and label graphics which matches to the tint of the balm inside.

The lip balm stick does not contain any other information than the shade name and brand name. The shelf life, usage details, ingredients and other manufacturing details are mention in an outer cardboard shell in which the balm comes packed when you buy it.

Just like the Candy Wow Baby Lips, the quantity of this new range of Bright Out Loud is lesser than the original Baby Lips balms.

Overall the packaging felt quite attractive to me, I would have given the packaging a high five if the quantity was a bit more.

Swatches: Lip swatches in the images below!

Texture: In short, the texture is smooth, moisturizing and at the same time very light. The balm stick glides over the lips without any tugging and supplies with enough moisturization in just 2 swipes.

Fragrance: It has a faint peppermint fragrance. The smell is very subtle and freshening. It takes 45minutes to 1 hour to completely fade away.

Shade-Striking Orange: The shade Striking Orange is a true orange shade with distinct yellow undertones.

Most of the orange lip tints fair well on lighter skin tones but this is certainly not one of those shades. The tangy yellow tones make it work well on every complexion and undertone be it cool, warm or neutral.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is quite intense for this lip balm. It gives translucent coverage to my medium pigmented lips.

I would say, the promises made by the brand regarding the pigmentation are all true.

Staying Power: Both the tint and moisturizing power stays intact for 3-4 hours without any meal or drinks.

Then the moisture part starts to go off. The tint starts to fade evenly after 5 hours.

Finish: The finish of this product is glossy but not over-the-top type. This kind of finish is very easy to carry for schools, offices or colleges.

Nykaa SKINgenius Compact Review, Swatch, How To Use

Transfer proof or not: No, it’s not a transfer-proof one. I was not expecting it to be a transfer-proof lip color because of two reasons.

Firstly, it did not claim anything related to transferring of the tint and secondly, lip balms are non transfer proof by nature of the ingredients. So, that should not be considered as a con.

My Experience: I used to shy away from orange coloured lip products for daily use until I met this baby. My line of thought went like, orange lip colours are for festivities and there is no way to escape from the attention an orange lippy brings.

But, to my surprise, this lip balm blends with my natural lip colour in a way that it complements my skin tone and makes me look fresh. The colour-payoff is good. So, the shade will show up in pigmented lips as well.

The shade stays true to my skin tone and for lighter skin tones than me. It will work as an mlbb shade for more pigmented lips.

This lip balm fairs me best for daytime looks when I am hurrying for some occasions, college or shopping. This lip tint can act as a not-too-dramatic lip gloss for peachy matte lipsticks.

Pros:

  • Provides perfect amount of moisturization to my lips
  • Colour-payoff and staying power is very good
  • The shade is a perfect blend of neon orange with warm tones that suits every skin tone
  • Very pocket-friendly
  • Fresh peppermint fragrance and tingly feeling makes this lip balm unique
  • Makes my lips look fuller

Cons:

  • Quantity could have been more

Jhalli Diva Verdict: 4.8/5

Will I Repurchase?

Yes. I would repurchase this shade because it complements the neutral undertone of my skin really well.

Do I Recommend?

Yes. I will recommend the entire Bright Out Loud Range and specially this shade to everyone because there are not many tangy yet subtle orange lip tints available in Indian market from good brands.

Overall Summary: Maybelline Baby Lips Bright Out Loud Lip Balm in Striking Orange is a budget-friendly warm neon orange lip balm with fantastic colour-payoff, sufficient moisturization and translucent coverage.

The shade is perfect to rock the scorching summer days or dull and cloudy monsoon.
