Hi my lovelies! Today I’m sharing Aura Absolute Matte Lip Cream Review & Swatches with you. Reviewing this product because I am head over heels in love with these Matte lip creams. I was vacationing in Europe when I stumbled upon these. What caught my eye were the vibrant colors. I am not a fan of shiny lip-glosses (Anyone with me..? No..?) So I don’t usually glance anywhere near the lip-gloss section. But the word “Matte” caught my eye and I knew I had to try these.
I swatched a color that I wanted and bought it. The next day I was in the same aisle again, trying out different colors to see which ones matched my skin tone and looked good on me. That day I bought 4 more, I regret not going to other stores to find them.
Product Name: Aura Absolute Matte long lasting lip cream.
Price and Quantity: Average price (396 INR/ $5.8 / 4.7€) for 7ml.
Ingredients List: Not written on the bottle.
Shades: There are 26 shades in this collection .I only own 5, mostly because the store had no other colors left or the others didn’t really go well with my skin tone.
These are the 5 that I own:
601 -My Beloved – Which is a nude color that would look absolutely ravishing with a bold eye makeup.
604 -Boy oh boy – It’s the perfect springy orange color.
605 – Check Matte – Chilly red color that would glam up any look.
608 – Instant Crush – Hot pink, when you need to channel out your inner Barbie.
612 – Matte Mess – Mauve-y, Perfect Fall color that you can rock in any season.
My absolute favorite is Aura matte 612 -Matte Mess.
I find myself reaching for this shade the most.
Claims: It claims to be matte and long lasting.
Availability: Aura is a drugstore brand in Europe, also available online.
Packaging and Appearance: Packed in a simple sturdy plastic container with an applicator, nothing fancy.
You can see the exact color through the packaging as it is transparent. So, that is a good thing.
These are liquid lipsticks with matte finish. It appears to have a velvet feel. Magnificent range of colors to choose from.
Smell: It has a sweet cupcake-y smell, not too bold just subtle hint if you take a waft.
Swatch: In the image below.
From left to right:
612 – Matte Mess
608 – Instant Crush
604 -Boy oh boy
605 – Check Matte
601 -My Beloved
Shelve Life: Up to 2years or if it smells rancid time to repurchase yourself a new one.
My Experience: The lip-cream goes on smooth and doesn’t dry up quickly, so you have ample time to correct, apply, mess up and go back.
Just one coat is enough for the lipstick to stand out because of the intense pigmentation. Yayy!!
Give it a minute to dry. It dries matte just like it claims. If you wish, apply another coat after the first one dries up.
You won’t usually need to touch up, it stays on the whole day till you wipe it off with makeup removing wipes. I personally apply more than one coat for extra safety.
I usually don’t use a liner and just use the tip of the applicator, outline my lips first and then fill them in.
Because the lipstick doesn’t dry quickly there is time for you to experiment and mix two shades on your lips and create an Ombre effect which is the new trend that can be perfected with these.
Remember the rule – A little goes a long way. Don’t apply too many coats or too much, take small amounts and build up as you go else you will find these transferring on the spoons you eat with, on the glass or the person you just kissed. :p
The formula is not consistent, I found some to be more opaque than the others.

Jhalli Diva Verdict: 4.5/5
Will I repurchase it?
I would definitely pick more colors again, now that I am back in Europe.
I would suggest you pick these up and try if you ever come across them. I always carry one or the other in my handbag. I don’t have dry lips so I never faced a problem with these. Also available online.
Overall summary: I would definitely give it a 5/5 only if they were easily available in India. There are so many shades you would definitely find 2-3 that you like.
These are the best Matte lip creams I have ever come across from a drugstore brand (of course).
